Chesapeake-Suffolk 4.0 League (Western Branch)
2017 CSTL Spring League - 4.0

What is World TeamTennis?
WTT is co-ed teams competing in a format that consists of 6 no-ad sets. One set each of men's and women's doubles followed by men's and women's singles, ending with 2 sets of mixed doubles. Total games won from all sets determines the winner. Substitutions and coaching are allowed during the match.

What is a WTT team?
A team must have two men and two women, as a minimum. (10 players maximum). This allows for periods of rest and missing matches. We also provide a list of approved substitutes for team back-ups.

Who can play?
Adults (18 & over) may sign up as a team or as an individual.

When do leagues start?
Play is tentatively scheduled to start Thursday, March 16th, 2017, at 6:30 pm and continues for 6 matches. Makeups may cause the league to run 8 weeks. A 4 or 5 team league will have 6 matches. Makeups will be added to the end of the season, or matches can be made up when both captains agree regarding a date, time, and location. League Season End Date is Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017. All matches must be completed by this date. Playoff dates(if necessary) and awards party are to be determined, depending upon the success of the league.

Sign-Up Deadline: March 15, 2017
All money and paperwork are due by this date. No refunds and/or transfer of payment to another person after the season starts.

What Divisions (levels of play) are offered?
The levels of play being offered in the 4.0 league are 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5. Recommended for this league are strong 3.5 players, 4.0 and 4.0+ players with high school or rec league tennis experience. 3.0 players will only be allowed with league coordinator approval. They will be placed on a team that needs an extra player and the team captain will determine their playing time, while they gain experience and confidence playing against stronger competition. 4.5 players are also subject to league coordinator approval.

Determining Team Rating
The average NTRP rating of the top two men and top two women players on your team determines the team rating.

       Example:
  Joe- 4.5 Mary- 3.5
  Tom- 4.5 Jill-3.5
  Bill- 4.0 Gail- 3.5
  Joe- 4.5 Mary- 3.5
  Jim- 3.5 Joan- 3.0

The best two men and two women are: 4.5 + 4.5 + 3.5 + 3.5 = 16. 16 divided by 4 equals 4.0.

This team could register for the 4.0 division or a higher division. A team consists of a minimum of two men and two women. Although the limit to the number of team members is ten, the suggested number of players is three men and three women. Click here to determine your NTRP level.

Where do we play?
Matches will be played at the following locations:
4437 Portsmouth Blvd.
Chesapeake, Virginia 23321
Courts are located behind and to the right of the Western Branch Sports Complex and Recreation Center. Take a right out of the parking lot onto Marie Olsen Drive and continue 1/4 mile. Courts are on the right.

Can I register as an individual/substitute/team?
You can register as an individual (we will make every effort to find an existing team for you to join in any given season), as part of a partial team ( we will assign other players to complete your team), or a full team. If you cannot commit to the entire season, we will place you on a substitute list. You will be called by the league coordinator or a team captain in the event they need a replacement player.

Note to substitute players:
Substitutes do not have to pay for the league at this time. You must register, however, and your playing is subject to the decision/judgment of the League Director who will independently assess your NTRP rating. Non-registered substitutes will not be covered under the WTT liability policy. Scoring in matches for Captains who utilize non-registered substitute players will be the same as a default. All sets in which the non-registered sub plays in will receive a 0 score, or default. Captains continuing to use non-registered subs may be removed from captaincy.

Why register via the Internet?
You are not an official league participant until you have registered online. When you register via the Internet site you will be e-mailed league information during the season and your WTT Member Benefits (WTT Point of Contact Newsletter, discounts on hotel, rental cars, 2 for 1 tickets, plus more).

What is the cost?
League fees are $35.00 per player or $200.00 per team.

League winners qualify for a National Qualifier?
