VTF Richmond (Spring)
2018 VTA Richmond Spring League

What is World TeamTennis?
WTT is co-ed teams competing in a format that consists of 6 no-ad sets. One set each of men's and women's doubles followed by men's and women's singles, ending with 2 sets of mixed doubles. Total games won from all sets determines the winner. Substitutions and coaching are allowed during the match. Click here to view WTT Rules
What is a WTT team?
A team must have two men and two women as a minimum. Only 10 players on a team can advance to a National Qualifier, and each player must have played in two matches of that particular season.
Who can play?
Adults (18 & over) may sign up as part of a team.
When do leagues start?
Season will run from April 13,2018 through June 16, 2018. Matches are scheduled for Friday nights. Depending on the number of teams at each level, season may be completed sooner. We understand there are other leagues that may be on the same night. Please do you best to have enough players on your team if they are playing in multiple leagues. We can not offer another night at this point due to other leagues and court constraints.
Sign-Up Deadline: Teams by 4/1/2018
Team names must be submitted or emailed to me by 4/1/2018 Midnight. Once we create a team your players will be able to register on the team. Schedules will be published on or before April 7. Players will need to be registered before they play in a match.
What Divisions (levels of play) are offered?
The levels of play being offered are 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5. Self rated players will be asked to attend a free hitting session to ensure you are ok at the level you wish to play. Dates and times will be provided here and announced soon.
Determining Team Rating
The average NTRP rating of the top two men and top two women players on your team determines the team rating.
  Joe- 4.5 Mary- 3.5
  Tom- 4.5 Jill-3.5
  Bill- 4.0 Gail- 3.5
  Joe- 4.5 Mary- 3.5
  Jim- 3.5 Joan- 3.0
The best two men and two women are: 4.5 + 4.5 + 3.5 + 3.5 = 16. 16 divided by 4 equals 4.0.
This team could register for the 4.0 division or a higher division. A team consists of a minimum of two men and two women. Although the limit to the number of team members is ten, the suggested number of players is three men and three women. Click here to determine your NTRP level.
Where do we play?
Matches will be played at area Richmond clubs and facilities based on the registered teams. Home matches will be drawn randomly and we can not guarantee an equal number of home and away matches.
Can I register as an individual/substitute/team?
You can register as part of a team. Once a captain registers online or emails me and the team is created, the other team members will be able to register for their respective team.
Note to substitute players:
There are no subs in this league. All players must be registered and paid to be eligible for VTF Spring WTT season. All captains should recruit a team to fulfill all lines through the season to avoid defaults.
Why register via the Internet?
You are not an official league participant until you have registered online. When you register via the Internet site you will be e-mailed league information during the season and your WTT Member Benefits (WTT Point of Contact Newsletter, discounts on hotel, rental cars, 2 for 1 tickets, plus more).
What is the cost?
League fees are $32 per person.
League winners qualify for a National Qualifier?
Winning teams advance to the WTT National Qualifiers. Your team is eligible to participate in a NQ for up to one year from the end date of your league. For every four (4) teams in any official World TeamTennis (WTT) local league division, one (1) team will be eligible to participate in a NQ. Click here for more details.
Local League Information & Rules:
Matches will be scheduled for Friday nights with start times that are reasonable for both teams (Usually 6 or 6:30 pm, but we have had 7 pm starts in the past per teams request.

All players are required to be registered before they play in a match and they must play at least twice to be eligible for postseason (NQ and Nationals) play. A minimum of 2 men and 2 women are needed to complete a match with a maximum of 10 players on a roster. Only 10 can attend any NQ and National.

Weather: please do not assume rain if it is predicted. General rule of thumb is to plan to play unless you hear from the home captain. Home captain should give at least 2 hours notice if they need to cancel a match, if it is possible. If it rains just before the match or during a match, see if you can wait it out, then resume. If it is not possible to continue or play, start discussing arranging a make up. Home captain should notify the opposing captain within 72 hrs options for the make up. Please provide two options within a 14 day period and the opposing captain should choose one ASAP so the home team can release the courts on the date not picked.
