USTA Phoenix - Phoenician
2018 Sets in the City Spring League - Phoenician

What is World TeamTennis?
WTT is co-ed teams competing in a format that consists of 6 no-ad doubles sets. One set each of men's and women's doubles followed by two co-ed doubles, ending with 2 sets of mixed doubles. Total games won from all sets determines the winner. Substitutions and coaching are allowed during the match. Click here to learn more about Sets in the City
What is a WTT team?
Ideally you need at least 4 players on your team (2 men and 2 women) each night. If you have less we can find subs, borrow from other teams, substitute a doubles match with a singles, etc. The maximum number of players you can have on a team is endless! Invite all of frat row, your entire office wing, those people that sleep on the light rail, feel free to get creative
Who can play?
If youre between the ages of 18 and 39, are available during the day and time of your chosen location, want to play a little tennis, are socially accepted, have some form of transportation ie. car, motorcycle, moped, an awesome 10 speed bike, your moms carpool, or if you're an excellent cross country runner, come on down!

When do leagues start?
The Phoenician site will start Thursday, March 1 at 6:30pm.

What Divisions (levels of play) are offered?
The levels of play being offered are Beginner (Recommended NTRP 3.0 & Lower), Intermediate (Recommended NTRP 3.5-4.0), Advanced (Recommended NTRP 4.0 and up)

This season we will be averaging your team rating to decide what level you will be playing.
0.0-3.49 Beginner
3.5-4.49 Intermediate
4.5-6.0 Advanced
Determining Team Rating
The average NTRP rating of the top two men and top two women players on your team determines the team rating.
  Joe- 4.5 Mary- 3.5
  Tom- 4.5 Jill-3.5
  Bill- 4.0 Gail- 3.5
  Joe- 4.5 Mary- 3.5
  Jim- 3.5 Joan- 3.0
The best two men and two women are: 4.5 + 4.5 + 3.5 + 3.5 = 16. 16 divided by 4 equals 4.0.
This team could register for the 4.0 division or a higher division. A team consists of a minimum of two men and two women. Although the limit to the number of team members is ten, the suggested number of players is three men and three women. Click here to determine your NTRP level.
Where do we play?
The Phoenician Resort
Can I register as an individual/substitute/team?
If you're a loner and don't technically have a team, but want to play so bad you'll do anything we will definitely take you... but you'll be labeled as a lone wolf. When you register without a team, you will be thrown into the lone wolf pound, but don't you worry - we will help you find your wolf pack.
Why register via the Internet?
You are not an official league participant until you have registered online. When you register via the Internet site you will be e-mailed league information during the season and your WTT Member Benefits (WTT Point of Contact Newsletter, discounts on hotel, rental cars, 2 for 1 tickets, plus more).
What is the cost?
League fee is $40. You spend more on a night out at the bars... don't lie. For the low price of less than or equal to $40, you will get: facility/league fee, tennis balls, 6 match season, facility coordinators (be nice to never know when they might give you free stuff!), a player gift, specials and discounts, and an end of season player's party.
League winners qualify for a National Qualifier?
Winning teams advance to the WTT National Qualifiers. Your team is eligible to participate in a NQ for up to one year from the end date of your league. For every four (4) teams in any official World TeamTennis (WTT) local league division, one (1) team will be eligible to participate in a NQ. Click here for more details.
