2018 Downingtown WTT Fall League

What is World TeamTennis?
WTT is co-ed teams competing in a format that consists of 6 no-ad sets. One set each of men's and women's doubles followed by men's and women's singles, ending with 2 sets of mixed doubles. Total games won from all sets determines the winner. Substitutions and coaching are allowed during the match. Click here to view WTT Rules
What is a WTT team?
A team must have two men and two women, as a minimum. (10 players maximum). This allows for periods of rest and missing matches.
Who can play?
Adults (18 & over) may sign up as a team or as an individual.
When do leagues start?
Matches will run from August 24 through October 20. All scheduled matches will occur on Monday and Wednesday evenings, from 6pm-8pm. Any makeup matches can be played during built-in dates or non-built in dates. Non-built in dates will not be covered by the league though, and location/time/date must be coordinated between Captains. All matches must be completed by October 30.

We will utilize the 6 Set Format (2 sets of Mixed Doubles). Each division will have a minimum of 4 teams. Each team will play every team in their division once or twice. The team in 1st place will advance to a future National Qualifier tournament.

The schedule will be released around 1st or 2nd week of August.

All money and paperwork are due August 19! You MUST have your registration form AND payment turned in by August 19! No exceptions!

No refunds and/or transfer of payment to another person will be given after the season starts!

What Divisions (levels of play) are offered?
We will hold a 4.0 Division flight only for our Fall League.
Determining Team Rating
The average NTRP rating of the top two men and top two women players on your team determines the team rating.
  Joe- 4.5 Mary- 3.5
  Tom- 4.5 Jill-3.5
  Bill- 4.0 Gail- 3.5
  Joe- 4.5 Mary- 3.5
  Jim- 3.5 Joan- 3.0
The best two men and two women are: 4.5 + 4.5 + 3.5 + 3.5 = 16. 16 divided by 4 equals 4.0.
This team could register for the 4.0 division or a higher division. A team consists of a minimum of two men and two women. Although the limit to the number of team members is ten, the suggested number of players is three men and three women. Click here to determine your NTRP level.

Can I register as an individual/substitute/team?
You can register as an individual (we will make every effort to find an existing team for you to join in any given season), as part of a partial team (we will assign other players to complete your team), or a full team.
Note to substitute players:
Substitutes do not have to pay for the league at this time. You must register, however, and your playing is subject to the decision/judgment of the League Director who will independently assess your NTRP rating.
Why register via the Internet?
You are not an official league participant until you have registered online. When you register via the Internet site you will be e-mailed league information during the season and your WTT Member Benefits (WTT Point of Contact Newsletter, discounts on hotel, rental cars, 2 for 1 tickets, plus more).
What is the cost?
League Fees:

If you sign up as a Team, the cost is $350.00. (Check Only)

If you sign up as an Individual Player, the cost is $35.00. (Cash or Check Only)

Captains pay $25.00. (Cash or Check Only)

Subs are free for the first match they play in. If they decide to play in matches after one, they must pay the $35.00 fee.

Make checks out to "Steve Motyka". Include the full date (Month/Date/Year). Please put "WTT Player Fees" in the memo line. Incomplete checks will be returned.

For ALL matches, the Home team must provide 2 cans of Wilson game balls. The Home Team is always listed 2nd on the portal schedule
League winners qualify for a National Qualifier?
Winning teams advance to the WTT National Qualifiers. Your team is eligible to participate in a NQ for up to one year from the end date of your league. For every four (4) teams in any official World TeamTennis (WTT) local league division, one (1) team will be eligible to participate in a NQ. Click here for more details.
Local League Information & Rules:
This is an Adult League with a 4.0 division flight. Anyone 18 years and older can participate. You are required to have a USTA/NTRP rating to participate.

Please see below policies for our specific league:

Subbing Policy:
The League Director will NOT be providing subs for 2018 leagues. You must have any Subs approved by the League Director at least 1-2 days prior to the scheduled match. This includes League Director approval, along with having the Sub player registered on the portal. Subs need to have the USTA rating required for the division level. Captains cannot allow Subs to play without League Director approval. Any Subs who are not approved by the League Director prior to the match will result in automatic set defaults for that specific player.

Default Policy:
Rule A - If both teams have 2 Men + 2 Women minimum, then all 6 sets will be played.
Rule B - If one team has 2 Men + 2 Women minimum AND the other team has 1 Male + 2 Women, 4 of 6 sets will be played. Men's Doubles & Mixed Doubles #1 (Non-Designated) will count as defaults of 0-6 each.
Rule C - If both teams have 1 Male + 2 Women, 4 of 6 sets will be played. Men's Doubles & Mixed Doubles #1 (Non-Designated) will count as No Score in the system (i.e. 0-0).
Rule D - Rules B & C will apply for either gender. 1 Woman + 2 Men, etc.
Rule E - If a team cannot field at least 3 players for the scheduled match, the match will count as a forfeit of 0-36.
Rule F - Team Captains can mutually e-mail the League Director requesting to reschedule a match due to lack of player availability. However, the League Director must be notified no later than 24 hours prior to the scheduled match. If the League Director receives the email on the date of the match, the rescheduled request will not be granted unless an inclement weather factor occurs. If a reschedule request is made on the date of the match, the match will be entered as "No Score" and will not be rescheduled.

Injury Policy:
If a player is injured during a match, the injured player must be the one to concede the injury default. Other players or Captains cannot influence the decision. If a team has players of the injured player's gender available to Sub in, that is allowed. However, a team without any available gender Subs must forfeit the rest of that set. Please make sure to note the score at the time of the injury default. If the rest of the set is defaulted, the injured player will keep any games won in the set while the opposing player will finish the set with 6 games won.
-Example 1: Women's Singles was 4-3 Player A at time of injury of Player A. Thus, Player B was down 3-4 when Player A was injured. Player C (Female on Player A's team) subs in for Player A and completes the set.
-Example 2: Men's Singles was 4-2 Player A at time of injury from Player B. Player B defaults the rest of the set. Thus, Player A wins the set 6-2.

Scorecards Policy:
Both Captains must sign the completed scorecard for the matches. Make sure to include ALL scores, including when players Sub in and out of sets. Please e-mail or text me the completed scorecards once finished. Captains can also enter the scores manually on the WTT portal (using your login). However, I still need all scorecards e-mailed or texted to me regardless.

Weather Policy:
Match postponement decisions will be made no earlier than 48 hours prior to the scheduled match. If a match is in progress when inclement weather arrives, please make sure to record the score as it currently stands. The remainder of the match can be finished at a mutually determined date.

Other Policies:
NO ALCOHOL is permitted on facility premises. Please refrain from profanity, verbal abuse, physical abuse, etc. Any complaints will be kept on file. If necessary, you may be asked to leave the league if your actions are persistent
