WTT Rhode Island
2020 WTT Rhode Island Winter League

What is World TeamTennis?
WTT is co-ed teams competing in a format that consists of 6 no-ad sets. One set each of men's and women's doubles followed by men's and women's singles, ending with 2 sets of mixed doubles. Total games won from all sets determines the winner. Substitutions and coaching are allowed during the match. Click here to view WTT Rules
What is a WTT team?
A team must have two men and two women, as a minimum. (10 players maximum). Per match, each team can play 4 people to 10 players. If a team has more than 4 players in a match, then players will rotate between positions. All players that come and want to play, will play. This allows for periods of rest.

Each team should have enough players so they can field each and every match with a minimum of 2 men and 2 women. Start forming your team of friends and family now!
Who can play?
Adults (18 & over) may sign up as a team or as an individual. THIS session we will have regular players who want to be placed on a team and play more than 60% of the time and Subs who will drop in as often as they can, depending on space available.
When do leagues start?
Play for this Winter session begins on Saturday, January 11, 2020 and will continue through March 28. There will be NO match on January 18 or February 15. Matches are each Saturday 6:30-8:30 pm. Please arrive no later than 6:15 so players on on the courts by 6:30.
Sign-Up Deadline: January 5, 2020
All registrations are due by this date in order to get placed on a team at the beginning of the session.
What Divisions (levels of play) are offered?
The divisions of play being offered are: Up to 3.5 (which includes 3.0 and 3.5, with a few 4.0) . Teams will be developed based on the number of players at each level playing each week.
Determining Team Rating
The average NTRP rating of the top two men and top two women players on your team determines the team rating.
  Joe- 4.5 Mary- 3.5
  Tom- 4.5 Jill-3.5
  Bill- 4.0 Gail- 3.5
  Joe- 4.5 Mary- 3.5
  Jim- 3.5 Joan- 3.0
The best two men and two women are: 4.5 + 4.5 + 3.5 + 3.5 = 16. 16 divided by 4 equals 4.0.
This team could register for the 4.0 division or a higher division. A team consists of a minimum of two men and two women. Although the limit to the number of team members is ten, the suggested number of players is three men and three women. Click here to determine your NTRP level.

Can I register as an individual/substitute/team?
You can register as an individual (we will make every effort to find an existing team for you to join in any given season), as part of a partial team ( we will assign other players to complete your team), or a full team. THIS session we will have REGULAR players and SUBSTITUTES:
If you want a regular spot and play more than 60% of the time, register using "I need to be placed on a team"
If you cannot commit to each week due to USTA Mixed or other commitments, that's ok! Register to be a" Substitute" and then choose (weekly) to play when you are available, depending on space available. Substitutes are not guaranteed a spot each week.
EVERYONE should include in the comments whether they are able and willing to play at least a few games of singles if necessary.
Each team has 1 male and 1 female set of singles, so if even if you don't want to play a full set, 2 players that are willing to play can split the set.
Note to substitute players:
THIS session we will allow people to register as a Substitute who will drop in as often as they can, depending on space available. If you cannot commit to each week due to USTA Mixed or other commitments, that's ok! Register to be a Substitute and sign up for a spot when you are available. Substitutes are not guaranteed a spot each week.
