So Cal WTT
2021 So Cal WTT Spring League

What is World TeamTennis?
World Team Tennis was started to showcase the best in professional tennis with a innovative team format co-founded by Billy Jean King in the 1970's. This lead to WTT Community Tennis to let recreational players play and share the same competitive experiences using this format like the professionals. The format for WTT is co-ed teams competing in a format that consists of 6 no-ad sets. One set each of men's and women's doubles followed by men's and women's singles, ending with 2 sets of mixed doubles. Total games won from all sets determines the winner. Substitutions and coaching are allowed during the match. Click here to view WTT Rules

Determining Team Rating
The average NTRP rating of the top two men and top two women players on your team determines the team rating.

       Example:
  Joe- 4.5 Mary- 3.5
  Tom- 4.5 Jill-3.5
  Bill- 4.0 Gail- 3.5
  Joe- 4.5 Mary- 3.5
  Jim- 3.5 Joan- 3.0

The best two men and two women are: 4.5 + 4.5 + 3.5 + 3.5 = 16. 16 divided by 4 equals 4.0.

This team could register for the 4.0 division or a higher division. A team consists of a minimum of two men and two women. Although the limit to the number of team members is ten, the suggested number of players is three men and three women. Click here to determine your NTRP level.

Where do we play?
A Point Person (PP)/captain will be designated with each home court crew or team that will be responsible to obtain two (2) courts, of their choosing, to conduct each scheduled SoCal WTT match and will bear the cost of any court fees incurred. Due to Covid-19 pandemic, please follow all County and State Health and Safety guideline of mask mandates and player distancing guidelines, for doubles if allowed, and when in play as well as following all mask and safety guidelines per facility protocals.

Can I register as an individual/substitute/team?
You can register as an individual (we will make every effort to find an existing team for you to join in any given season), as part of a partial team ( we will assign other players to complete your team), or a full team. If you cannot commit to the entire season, we will place you on a substitute list. You will be called by myself or a team captain in the event they need a replacement player.

Note to substitute players:
Substitutes do not have to pay for the league at this time. You must register, however, and your playing is subject to the decision/judgment of the League Director who will independently assess your NTRP rating if you do not have a current NTRP rating.
