What is World TeamTennis?
WTT plays men's and women's doubles followed by men's and women's singles, ending with 2 sets of mixed doubles. Total games won from all sets determines the winner. Substitutions and coaching are allowed during the match. Click here to view WTT Rules
San Diego Leagues play 8 game, no ad sets, with a tiebreak at 7 all.
What is a WTT team?
A team is a minimum of three men and three women(10 players maximum).
Who can play?
Adults (18 & over) may sign up for team or as an individual.
When do leagues start?
Fall leagues begin October and goes thru November or December, depending on number of teams registered.
Team schedules will be available online and emailed to captains and club directors.
Sign-Up Deadline: Oct. 15 for captains, Oct. 31 for iplayers
Captains register team name, get team approval, prior to Captains deadline. Players may register for team at anytime prior to deadline. PLEASE DO NOT PAY WHEN YOU REGISTER. After determining there are enough teams for league play, you will be notified when and how to pay fees due.
What Divisions (levels of play) are offered?
Divisions 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 for local leagues.
Determining Team Rating
The average NTRP rating of the top two men and top two women players on your team determines the team rating.
  Joe- 4.5 Mary- 3.5
  Tom- 4.5 Jill-3.5
  Bill- 4.0 Gail- 3.5
  Joe- 4.5 Mary- 3.5
  Jim- 3.5 Joan- 3.0
The best two men and two women are: 4.5 + 4.5 + 3.5 + 3.5 = 16. 16 divided by 4 equals 4.0.
This team could register for the 4.0 division or a higher division. A team consists of a minimum of two men and two women. Although the limit to the number of team members is ten, the suggested number of players is three men and three women. Click here to determine your NTRP level.
Where do we play?
Matches will be played at several locations throughout San Diego County.
3.5 Monday evening
3.0 Tuesday evening if enough teams register
4.0 Wednesday evening
4.5 Thursday evening
Can I register as an individual/substitute/team?
You can register as an individual and we will try and find a team for you.
NTRP and self ratings will be verified. WTT uses current NTRP rating at the league start date.
Note to substitute players:
Our leagues DO NOT use substitute players. A player must be registered to play on your team or games will be forfeited.
Why register via the Internet?
You are not an official league participant until you have registered online. When you register via the Internet site you will be e-mailed league information during the season and your WTT Member Benefits (WTT Point of Contact Newsletter, discounts on hotel, rental cars, 2 for 1 tickets, plus more).
What is the cost?
MINIMUM(6 players)
$15.00 team entry fee generally paid by captain at registration. DO NOT PAY UNTIL YOU ARE NOTIFIED.
Only $15.00 for this season per player due to Covid 19 in 2020. DO NOT PAY UNTIL YOU ARE NOTIFIED.
No player fee for captain as they usually pay team fee but may collect from other players.
League winners qualify for a National Qualifier?
Winning teams advance to the WTT National Qualifiers. Your team is eligible to participate in a NQ for up to one year from the end date of your league. For every four (4) teams in any official World TeamTennis (WTT) local league division, one (1) team will be eligible to participate in a NQ. Click here for more details.
Local League Information & Rules:
San Diego leagues comply with WTT National Qualifier rules whereas any player may play any position as long as the team meets REQUIREMENTS FOR LEVEL OF PLAY. EXCEPTION: WTT San Diego league plays 8 games instead of 6 with tiebreak at 7 all. Local rule: If lights go out, team ahead in points wins the match. Either team may report scores online but generally it is home team.
Matches may be rescheduled to end of season DUE TO RAINOUT.
